Cycling Across Water to Reach the Ile Callot

Take a look at the arrow on my Strava map from today’s route and … it looks like we cycled across the water. We’re darn good cyclists but even we can’t ride across water. So … that’s the Ile Callot and at certain times, depending on the tide, you can get across the paved road to the island and ride north on the path almost to the northern tip of Ile Callot.

We were here (the coast at the town of Carenac and start of the road to Ile Callot) on our second ride from Morlaix and … the tide covered the road. Darn. Here’s what it looked like then …

For our final ride today from Morlaix we decided to do another loop up to Carentac, not thinking we’d be able to get across the Ile Callot. Why not? Because we’d get there at approximately the same time today as we got there the first time: 11:30AM. But lo and behold, the tide was out and we could get across. Here’s what the same road looked like today …

And here’s a video of Don riding across it …

And here’s another video from on the island …

It was a great way to end our trip.

I’ll have one more post from this trip, in a couple days, when I have time to think about the past week and put everything into perspective. I’ll try and come up with some interesting and perhaps even a little inspiring. Wow, that’s a lot of pressure!
