I may have complained a bit (but I definitely did not whine) about the two rides from Brest not being quite as spectacular as I had hoped for. So, today, on our first ride from Morlaix – it lived up to my expectations.
Don?
“I thought it was a great ride; the coast was pretty.”
To and along a little b it of the Cote des Bruyeres was a great ride. Our loop was 36.8 miles with 1,683 feet of climbing. And my top speed was 42.4 miles per hour. It seemed like we climbed more than 1,683 feet … and it didn’t seem like I ever went as fast as 42.4 miles per hour. That’s pretty darn fast for me. I’m pretty sure it was on a downhill.
Here’s the map of our ride …

From our hotel, high above the center of Morlaix and the Morlaix River, we headed down to the river to find the D76. Well, where the river should have been. It’s been covered over in the center of town and reappears as you head north toward the sea. Why did they do this? A river running through the center of town would have been cool.
Anyway, we headed north, along the river and the pleasant ride got better and better as we neared the coast. Here’s a video of what it looked like …
We meandered along the coast and through the villages of Primel-Tregestal and Plougasnou and then began heading back.

That’s about it for today. Tomorrow the plan is to ride on the other side of the inlet formed by the Morlaix River to the coast. It should be another great ride.
