A Close Shave …

It’s 8:55 a.m. here in Annecy … and 47 degrees! Brrrrrr.

So … I’m killing time and waiting for it to warm up so I can ride. It will be all the way up to 51 degrees at 11!

And so … here’s a clever packing hack I figured out. On my last trip, somehow, some way, the little button on my beard trimmer got depressed on its way from Columbus to Paris, and ran continuously across continents and oceans and was dead by the time I needed to use it. First of all, thank goodness the security people didn’t hear it, think it was a bomb and turn the plane around in midflight or arrest me when I tried to get through customs.

Then again, maybe this is a common problem, one they’re all too familiar with and why so many men traveling the world look like they haven’t shaved in weeks.

So … how can I avoid this predicament on this trip? And then, inspiration. What if I stick piece of cardboard under the switch. Will that prevent it from pressing down? It did! Genius.

“Why don’t you put a rubber band around it to make sure it doesn’t fall out,” Susan suggested.

Double genius!

Please feel free to use this trick when you travel.

I’ll try and post later today, after my ride and a shower and shave ….

  1. Years ago we were going on a cruise with friends. Our friend’s suitcase was not loaded onto the ship because his electric shaver had turned itself on and was buzzing.
